Underfluid Hydromount Cell Courtesy of Arnold Machine

FANUC America’s Authorized System Integrator Arnold Machine has developed an innovative and consistent robotic assembly solution called the Under-Fluid Hydro-Mount cell.

How the System Works

The center bushing of the hydro-mount is hydraulic and assembled inside the fluid that fills it. An operator first loads a rotary table with bushings for assembly. The table rotates to bring the disassembled bushings into the cell where they are picked by a FANUC LR Mate 200iD/7L robot and placed into a submerged gripper. The robot orients the bushing and resubmerges it to fill it with fluid. After the bushing has filled, the robot loads it into a press to finish the assembly process. After assembly, the part is removed from the fluid by another LR Mate 200iD/7L and loaded into a rotary table that transports it through a cleaning station that washes and dries the assembled hydraulic mount.

Next, a FANUC M-10iD/12 robot picks the part and loads it into a press that will roll the outer housing of the bushing to prevent separation. The M-10iD/12 loads the part into a vibration tester to verify proper assembly and specifications.

Benefits

  • Optimized throughput
  • Increased quality
  • Reduced footprint
  • More controlled production rate

LR Mate 200iD/7L

The LR Mate 200iD/7L is a member of FANUC’s popular LR Mate 200iD series of tabletop industrial robots. Ten models include clean room and wash proof versions, each with various wrist speeds and reaches to accommodate small workspaces.

M-10iD/12

FANUC’s M-10iD/12 is part of the M-10 Series of robots that provide high throughput and optimized cycle times across a wide range of pick, place, and machine tending operations. The compact robot features a hollow wrist and integrated cables making it ideal for small workspaces.
