In this video, Jason Everett, Amatrol Market Development Manager, introduces DAC Worldwide’s innovative Smart Process Factory Training System (603-SPF). This system, an enhancement of the 4-Variable Advanced Process Control Training System (603-000), integrates cutting-edge process instrumentation components from Endress+Hauser and process automation elements from Rockwell Automation. It expands on the base model by incorporating various advanced smart process applications.

The core 603 model constitutes an operational industrial-grade fluid process system, offering practical training in managing four fundamental process variables: level, flow, pressure, and temperature. Users can experiment with creating control loops ranging from simple to intricate, utilizing authentic industrial-grade instruments commonly found in workplaces. Furthermore, it boasts high configurability with multiple control and communication systems.

The upgraded Smart Process Factory elevates the 603's capabilities by harnessing the latest Industry 4.0 technologies from Endress+Hauser and Rockwell Automation. It integrates an array of industry-standard components encountered in real-world scenarios, such as Endress+Hauser transmitters, Allen-Bradley PLC, PowerFlex^® 525 AC Drive, FIELDVUE™ Digital Valve Controller, motorized valves from Plast-O-Matic, and a Koolant Koolers chiller.

This factory applies these industry-standard components in novel process industry scenarios, catering to the training needs of various employee levels, including operators, technicians, and engineers. Some new applications introduced with the Smart Process Factory encompass Bioreactor (Basic and Advanced), Clean-in-Place Skid, Boiler Drum Level, and Wastewater Treatment.

Additionally, the Smart Process Factory features an advanced communications and control architecture. Smart sensors at the device level gather data and communicate using HART wireless, I/O Link, or Ethernet protocols. The control level offers various options, including PID control, PLCs, and a newly introduced Distributed Control System (DCS).

At the enterprise level, Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx software serves as the linchpin for Industry 4.0 integration. It empowers users to generate real-time dashboards for data analytics, facilitating intelligent production, maintenance, and supervisory control.
